Here’s a testing little outing to add to your training plans
Cycle Club Meeting
Does anybody know if we have a date set to meet again to discuss the Cycling Club options?
Corfu Mayhem
Just got back from Corfu, blisteringly hot too!
Very relaxed and had too much ouzo
I had grand plans to rent a mountain bike and tackle some of the roads. Blooming nightmare, after driving a day or two I realised that I would be taking my life into my own hands. Even early morning rides were not advised by locals. So like Richard I did a few runs. End of 1st week broke my toe so all that was left was beers by the pool.
Just been out for a quick spin to check the foot, not looking clever.
So on Saturday I will be looking to do a really gentle one at the weekend (between 30 – 40 miles).
It may not suit most but thats cool, let me know if anyone is up for it and I will report on how the foot is at the end of the week, because I will be cycling in to work all week to test it.
Glad to be back (not)
15% more sleep and a couple of markers
That’s what I got for not joining the 06:15 brigade on what sounded like a fun morning in the hills.
The original plan was to have a go at Graham’s hill route, but as he wasn’t coming out to play (in deepest, darkest Kent so I understand, let’s hope we see him again!) Adrian and I went for the trusty zip across to Ashbourne.
The first marker was laid down getting to the Rose & Crown: 29m35s. First time either of us had done it in under 30 mins, anyone else? No? Guess that’s the record then.
Second was breaking the Bird Land Speed Record by reaching 70.6 kph on the descent down Cumberhills Road on the way back into Duffield. Now that did get a little hairy in places.
We were on for 3h30 until we had the, now obligatory, Pugh Puncture Stop so decided to try the upcoming sportive route back after Drum Hill rather than the dull shlep back through Ilkeston.
Looking at the map now, we took one wrong turn, but otherwise it was a great route with some testing ascents that will ensure the Sportive is not over until it’s over.
Saturday Hills
Graham, are you still on for your demon hill route on Saturday? Have you had a chance to map it?
Lanzarote is Blistering
It is blistering here in Lanzarote. I have manged a few runs but have not been anywhere near a bike and don’t plan to either. Sounds like you’re all having fun.
Is anyone up for a ride on Thursday 28th ride in the morning?
See you all soon.
Credit crunch?
Check out this site for some pretty good sale offers…have just furnished by backside with some new Assos!
Saturday morning spin?
Is there by any chance a wee ride out this Saturday morning? If so can someone let me know the time and how far they are going.
Regards,
Hare.
45 Mins to go
Anybody up and watching the Olympics? Cooke’s avoided the crash … Pooley and Lawes still there with her ….. Just started going uphill Remember that programme…. ‘Going for Gold’ (Hope that doesn’t tempt fate)
Chapeau Graham
Brilliant ride this morning Graham.
How did you manage to find so many killers in one ride? However your chain gang technique needs a little fine tuning…
Didn’t make it back in time before the rain and I was completely soaked by the time I arrived home.
