A winning formula (home page)

The website is now looking great and performing great.
I love how the 6 key areas are surrounded by a great image of which could signal a campaign for the club.
I am sure that as different rides happen there will be image pportunities to use  that  reflect the holistic aspect of the club.

Well done!

Possible Tea Stop for those Leics Rides

I’ve been contacted by Lisa from Dove Cottage Day Hospice in the Vale of Belvoir who will shortly be opening a tea room.

Their flyer can be found here. They’re keen to see us, so bear it in mind next time you’re planning a ride out that way.

Newbie

I am now planning on doing the C2C2C in June. Will be taking a number of students from school but saw this as more of a challenge than the C2C. Will be out for a longer ride on Saturday morning before football training. When am up to a reasonable pace will hook up for a Beeston ride.

Used the info from the blog to go to lidl this evening and got a top, jacket, saddle and lights. Kathryn says that is all I have managed to achieve so far…..

Update On Racing

I’ve just finished speaking to the organiser of the Darley Moor races. I told him we were a new club and not many, if any had a racing licence from British Cycling. He said that you can apply to enter the races using a form from British Cycling (I have downloaded a copy if anyone wants one) and he will sort us out a racing day licence on the day. Also we don’t have to wear club colours as we don’t have the shirts yet, he was pretty understanding of our situation.

I asked about the level and he said it was OK, also to just come and have a go and if you get dropped then you cycle round until the bunch come round again and you join the back. We’ll be asked to drop out of the bunch sprint at the end of we’re not in contention. He said it was good fun and we should come and have a go. Get the club on the map as he said.

Sunday 1st March

Sadly I will have to be at home on Saturday as Jane is away for the day. This has the added downside that I will have to watch Wales play France on the Friday night and will have no excuse not to get overexcited. I will (subject to football for Lewis ) be out on Sunday and plan to do the Ashbourne ride as Rich describes it for Saturday ie one stop, take your own map, tools and make your own way back if the group disintegrates etc etc. I would point out that this is purely for training reasons and not to show how ‘hard’  or macho I am. Clearly given my current tardy times that would be madness but I would aim to complete the route in 4 – 4 1/2 hours.

Hill Repeats Again

Monday night – back to the grind stone. The group has grown to 2 now. Thanks to Graham for coming along and adding an extra bit of competition to the hills. 9:15 start and the usual spin up, big ring sitting, and then big ring standing was enough for an hour’s effort.

The usual twinges of cramp were there although not full blown, and only a small amount of heaving, mainly for effect. Either things are beginning to take effect or I have dropped off the efforts.

I have applied for my racing licence and will be sending off the application forms end of this week. Realistic a completion of the race would be enough for a first attempt.
