Saturday 1st Aug, morning ride
Shirt orders
I have some orders for shirts – getting towards last call before the order goes! Any more for any more?
A nice birthday present
Club member Rich S is on holiday and it is his birthday. Seems like he was allowed a bit of birthday time!

Thursday night Time Trials
These are still going, till the end of August. I know the racing fraternity have bigger fish to fry, I wondered if any of the newbies (or anyone for that matter) were interested and wanted to ride down this Thursday? It’s very low key and the hosting club are a friendly bunch. Because BCC are not affiliated with the TT body, we have to join VCLE (Velo Club Long Eaton) as 2nd claim members, but it is only £5. The fee for the TT is just £1-50. Don’t worry about fitness or speed, it will be very motivating to see big chunks of time drop off each week!
If anyone wants to tag along then I can meet them at Argos at 6:00pm
Forecast as I type is for a fine day with a lower chance of a shower than of late.
Sunday morning, 7am at Argos
I am wanting to do a Leicestershire 50 on Sunday morning leaving at 7am and back for 10am. Will look at routes unless anyone has a corking idea?
I am aware the family ride is planned for 11am , we can’t go (family do) but some will need to factor that in.
Family Ride Sunday 2nd August
The next family ride is on sunday2nd August at 11am departing from the entrance to the golf course at the top of Bramcote Road for a scenic ride to Shipley Country Park following the Nutbrook trail.
The ride is about 10 miles each way, with a little bit of road riding through New Stapleford.
If you want to drop a picnic off at my house before 9 am, I can get it to the park.
Hope to see you there!
Web site / club structure
One of the actions from the last committee meeting was to set up a working group to review the structure of this web site.
There have been concerns that the structure of the web site doesn’t suit everyone and we were tasked with looking at ways to improve access to and targeting of the information.
Summer holidays have got in the way of the working group meeting so I would like to keep things moving and draw some feedback from the club as a whole.
The first step is, I think, to identify the sections that operate in the club. We can then build areas of the web site around those areas of interest and section leaders can be given responsibility for managing the content.
My first stab at a section list, in no particular order, is:
Racing (inc Sportive, TT)
Sportive
MTB
Social Riding (inc Family)
Womens (Honies)
Youth
World of Cycling??
I’d like to keep it to 6 if at all possible. What do you think?
Membership Update
New members have been signing up consistently over recent weeks. We’re over 50 strong now and well on the way to our target of 60 by then end of the year.
A couple of riders have been out with us already, Dom and Ian, and the others are planning to join us soon.
Wondered if you new guys would like to leave a comment on this post, introducing yourselves to the rest of the members. Would also be really interested in what made you choose Beeston CC over other local clubs.
