For those who want to hop on board the Beeston train come the road race season training will be starting now.

Good morning to all those ‘crossers’ out there. Sorry if there seems to have been some confusion over the next race meet, that was my misunderstanding of another conversation.
Anyway, for those of you who have been observant the next race will be held at Bingham on the 7th of November at the normal time for those younger members and 2 – 2:15pm for the seniors.
I have been sent the race de-brief from Bramcote Hills CX last weekend and once again the Marshall’s all get a big mention and a well done, so, well done! I will bring it along to the next meet as it may give us some ideas for next year as to how to improve on the running and course, for example, maybe a burger van!!! or a beer tent….
Only joking!
Keep riding!
Paul M
Can anyone recommend a decent sat nav system for using on a bike? Essentially, I simply want to be able to plan/upload routes and to be guided while out on the road. Would also be interested in one with a built in heart rate monitor.
Attempting the Exmoor Beast (100km) on Sunday, wish me luck – forecast is for up to 60mph headwinds, as if the abundance of steep hills were not enough – over 7,000 ft of climbing! Nice.
Report to come.
The Executive Committee would like to form a sub committee to lead on the development of a Go Ride Club. This is in effect an after school cycling club with support from British Cycling. We have quite a lot of information about Go Ride and some contacts from British Cycling and the local council who can provide support and funding.
What we need is a group of club members who are able and willing to make a significant commitment in time to get a club up and running and to sustain that club into the future. I know we have a number of qualified teachers in the club who may be interested but there is no requirement to have any teaching experience to be a Go Ride coach.
Go Ride coaches will be required to undertake a Criminal Records Bureau enhanced check.
I am interested in doing this but feel we need a group of at least 4 who are prepared to dedicate some hours to it if we are to go ahead. If you are interested please e-mail me at secretary@beeston.cc
Minutes of the last Executive Committee are being circulated among members of the committee. Once ratified they will be available to any club member on request by e-mailing me at secretary@beeston.cc
We decided not to post them on the blog as there could be times in the future when we may not want to share all our decisions with the general public although we will always want to share all minutes with members.
At the AGM in September we failed to elect a Welfare Secretary to the Executive Committee. This was an oversight. Judy Claxton is happy to continue in the role. The constitution demands that we have a Welfare Secretary.
The Executive Committee have made a decision to invite any members wishing to stand for election to the position of Welfare Secretary here on the blog. If you or any other member wish to stand please contact me at secretary@beeston.cc by the end of November. We will then organise an on line election.
The Executive Committee has decided not to create any more executive positions. It was felt that the current committee represented all members interests and a larger group could compromise the future of the club as the constitution demands that all Exec posts are filled. If it is felt that any other members views regarding social rides, women members, marketing or any other issues would be beneficial then members will be invited to attend Exec meetings in a non voting capacity.
I will be taking my son, Lewis, out for 2 hours. Happy to discuss route but preferably off road at this stage.
I am hoping to get a group going and once confident with the kid’s abilities I hope we will head for real roads and maybe add in some through and off and some sprints! That’s an aim though …..
