Not so novice chaingang, Tues 2nd ?

I have the rare opportunity to ride on tuesday eve, is the not so novice chaingang crew gonna be out on Tuesday?

I see the big boys may be tackling the full chaingang route, what will the NSN gangers be doing if out?

Running up to race day

Next Saturday is our first race day but, like Richard, it’s not a priority day for me – that is Victoria Park. So should I be doing chain gang next Thursday?

Along the lines of this route with cafe stop as marked.

Picking up Rhod in Long Eaton.  May extend a little further towards Grantham so between 60 and 75 miles.  Brisk pace but not too intense – 18 mph ish average.  I will chuck in a few sprints in a vain attempt to sharpen up for the following Saturday.

7:30 Argos

Fixed gear hubs

May be of interest to anyone converting to fixed but struggling with drop out spacings. I’ve come across a site called velosolo.co.uk which sell a conversion kit to convert MTB Deore disc brake hubs to fixed gear, with sprockets bolting onto the disc rotor mounts. They also sell spacers / solid axles etc.

Interesting idea – you can build the MTB hubs up with 700c rims. A rear Deore could be used as a flip flop. 135mm spacing, which should squeeze OK into a steel 130mm drop out frame. Front hubs are 100mm, but long axles and spacers can be used to get a strong, no dish fixed wheel.

Worth a look if you’re going through a fixed conversion process.

Novice (and any other ride around Long Eaton) Chain Gang Tuesday 23rd

I won’t be riding this week thank’s to a continuing chesty cough, but is anyone else venturing out on Tuesday?  Forecast is 0 degrees with potential light rain and sleet (not that I want to put anyone off)

Sun 28th early(ish) 50(ish) miles

Would like to get out on Sunday morning, we are forcast an easterly ‘breeze’ (20mph) so I’m thinking the Six Hills ride would suit with a tailwind pushing us home.

Steady pace (15 mph or thereabouts)

Easy on time as long as its not too late 07:00 – 08:00 Argos ?

BTW – Anyone got the route?
