Profile for: Francesco Coleman

Who are you and tell us a little about yourself?

Francesco, love going up hills. And obviously love to go down them.

What’s your motivation to get on your bike?

To do well in races, enjoy it and get fitter.

what brought you into cycling?

Cycling to the supermarket in the summer, to get ingredients for my mum or my brother.

What are your short, medium and long term cycling goals?

I would like to race at Darley Moor and be as good as Lance Armstrong (my hero)!

Do you have any strengths / weaknesses on the bike?

I am good at going fast’ish up hills. Up till today I haven’t had a water bottle!

What was your first bike?

A Trek mountain bike – feels very heavy and uncomfortable now.

And what is your favourite bike that you have owned?

Has to be my Merida which I got about 2 months ago.

What bike/s do you currently own?

My Merida! It makes me so much faster.

If money where no object what bike would you buy?

Something carbon fibre but I don’t know much about them yet.

What disciplines of our sport and to what degree do you participate in? (ie road / mtb /cross)

Road racing.

What’s your funniest moment/thing you’ve seen whilst on a bike?

Seeing my dad carry his bike through a puddle.

Do you have any favourite rides?

All the Saturday morning ones.

Have you achieved any significant rides?

No not really. (Apart from last weeks 33 mile ride)

Describe your ideal ride.

Nice and long going at a decent pace. ( 15-17 mph)

What is your favourite bit of kit?

A speedometer my nan gave me for Christmas.

Where is your favourite café?

Castroni in Rome (Might be a bit to far away for after a Saturday ride)

What do you do when it rains?

Mainly watch TV or go on the  computer. And I read a lot . To be honest it usually rains whilst at school or after so I would do some homework. Boring Hey?

Do the walk, talk, gear freak or fashion victim?

Uh?

What wouldn’t we know about you just by looking at you?

I am half Italian, but I don’t really speak it much.

What activities could Beeston CC do that would be of interest to you?

Have a youth section were all the juniors can meet up. Also we should have a juniors blog.

Is there anything else about you, that you would care to share?

No not really.

  1. Good to read a bit about you Francesco, the youth side of the club is something we are working on, at the moment there aren’t many of you, there is a juniors section, let of know if you want to contribute to that

  2. Nice one Francesco. You seem to have all it takes – nice style and a whippet like frame. Just need to put the miles in now.

Keep up the good start and make sure you keep drinking ;)

  3. Keep riding hard Francesco and, by the way, your cafe seems to beat everybody else’s for style by quite a wide margin!

You juniors could sort out with mum and dad about joining Twitter.com and then keeping your tweets ‘private’. You rparents could check who was trying to contact you and be your friend. Or maybe Facebook could be a junior option – I will let the more computer literate advise you though …..

@Francesco – I need to get the pedals Adam is lending you and then I can arrange for you to try on these shoes I have and then we can fit them if they seem ok.
