Social Night Thurs 11th

I’ll be in the Hop Pole after the chain gang – around 8:30.   Anyone joining me for the club social?

Training suggestion: Criterium-style laps of Univ. Park

University Park circular route comprises a long-ish drag, a short rolling sector,  a short, steep climb followed by a downhill and a nice sweeping flat section along which it is well possible to work hard for good bursts on the drops. The loop is 1.8 Mi. I have done it often, in particular around the period when we were due to give birth and after my daughter was born. It was/is easy: 10 laps inside the hour, 18+ Mi/h, in and and back, showered, well inside 90′, easy (for me). It is also a nice challenging little course. It can accomodate people with different speeds/skills as getting dropped is not the end of the world, merely a one lap wait. Would anyone else be tempted to join in? If the group was large I ought to check with security at University.

Affiliations

Hello, as a newbie I’m not sure what affiliations we have eg. CTC, time trials etc? We’re planning some of the Long Eaton TT’s, Audax rides etc this year but not sure on what affiliations would be needed or which we already have. Thanks.

Beeston CC on Facebook & Twitter

Just a quick reminder that you can keep up with Beeston CC on Facebook and Twitter:

Beeston CC on Facebook

If your not too familiar with Facebook it’s not all throwing thongs and sheep at people, buying them cyber drinks or being a Mafia Farmer type person, it can be quite usefull.  To join Facebook is quite a simple process and some of the benifits are explained below….

Our page on Facebook has information on the clubs social events, sends you an invite to the event and even places reminders on your home page at Facebook as the event approaches, hopefully our blog will also ‘feed’ to the Facebook page very soon.  All you need to do to receive these benefits is join the Beeston Cycling Club group (just press the join button at the top of the page next to our name).

Beeston CC on Twitter

Twitter is another social networking site but without all the razamataz of Facebook, you simply post a short comment (tweet) whenever you feel like it.  Beeston CC’s blog automatically feeds to twitter, and occasionally we will also tweet announcements on our twitter page.

Twitter is also well used in the cycling community with many pro cyclists tweeting away regularly.

Any questions, please ask!
