Social Night, The Star, Beeston
20:30 Thu, 12 Jun 2014
Duration: 5hr 0
For a change, this months' Social Night will be at the newly refurbished Star Inn in Beeston (22 Middle St Beeston, Nottinghamshire NG9 1FX).
If the weather is decent we can sit in the huge beer garden, of if its iffy we can probably find some cycling to watch in their 'Sports bar'. Either way, with a huge range of real ales and whiskies, what's not to like?

21:41 Mon, 9 Jun 2014
I'll be running round the garden like an excited puppy!

Comeback complete! Congratulations!

I dropped by the Star tonight, craned head over the perimeter fence, went home.
I shall continue the long tradition of not mincing my words.
What a ridiculous venue for a cycling club.
Beer Garden - great!
Can I get my bike into said beer garden?
Ostracised proper bike rider ;)

Ah Mikey boy, you could have passed your bike over the fence with a little ingenuity, next time make your presence known.
Richb, comeback not quite complete, failed to hang on to the fast lads, and its a TdL fo make it complete.

It was very shiny.

Chatting with the management..they are going to put a gate off the footpath for cycle access and racks in the garden for security..all sounds quite promising.
From the [fairly understandable] reaction from the Hop Pole [tried for late drink]..we may have burnt our boat there!

Dunno if anyone follows WBCC, but their Belle & Jerome shenanigans have been most amusing.
9:49 Fri, 13 Jun 2014
As in being banned by the pub that sponsors them?
10:56 Fri, 13 Jun 2014
yeah, but there was so much more scope for comedy.
11:02 Fri, 13 Jun 2014
How did they manage that?
11:09 Fri, 13 Jun 2014
Stopped reading their updates now (with 600 fb members there was just too many!) but as the club grew in size, it was getting harder for Belle & Jerome to accommodate them after a ride, to the point where they were refused admittance one night by the barman (not the owner), apparently 'not the kind of clientele they wanted'. The irony! I believe that club has now split into two groups, over a dispute over the club kit (sponsored vs. not sponsored).

and after the barring, B&J was empty
