National Road Race Championships
Ride out, watch the racing, roll home.

I have no idea what i am doing from one day to the next but this sounds too good to miss

11:49 Wed, 5 Nov 2014

Has anyone got the Thursday off and fancies riding out to see our boys in the TT?

9:25 Thu, 18 Jun 2015
Timings for Road race.
Do we need to reconsider the departure time?
3-4 hour ride out? More direct route back?

17:55 Sun, 21 Jun 2015

What time do you ideally want to get there for? when the women hit the circuit?

Weather is looking pants too

9:55 Wed, 24 Jun 2015

So Knocked up a couple of routes, starting and finishing at Attenborough lights.

Out Via the normal route to Rumbles Cafe:

Home via a more direct route, as time will be getting on:

10:53 Wed, 24 Jun 2015

Gutted I'm going to miss this - unfortunately I'm travelling for work. Then again, standing by the side of the road in the rain for 5+ hours might not be as much fun as it sounds...

11:08 Wed, 24 Jun 2015

Come and watch me do the Sportive on the Saturday instead, it will be much more entertaining, especially Michaelgate!

11:35 Wed, 24 Jun 2015

I'm a maybe - I'm still down as a reserve to race. If I don't get in I'll swing up to Michaelgate to watch.

15:12 Wed, 24 Jun 2015

I'll ride out to watch unless it's pissing it down in which case I'll drive over.

15:31 Wed, 24 Jun 2015

Probably going to take the family so probs won't be riding over.

16:12 Wed, 24 Jun 2015

Are you still keen if the weather is as forecast?
What about everybody else?
I'm thinking we could leave at 8 or 8:30 and still have a good day of it? And less time in the rain!
Routes look OK, but we could go into Lincoln from the west via Collingham, race circuit is out that side?

6:57 Thu, 25 Jun 2015

As of this morning the forecast seems to be improving, I am happy to get caught in a shower, but not spend all day in the rain, so as it stands I am keen, I have a stamped pass and intend to make full use of it.

As for a route, I am happy to go with the flow, I will load the above into the garmin as a backup.

As for start time 8:30 would suit me better and maybe not stop at rumbles but again happy to go with the flow.

9:10 Thu, 25 Jun 2015

12:55 Thu, 25 Jun 2015

OK, changed time to 8:30, shall we do 8:15-20 at Attenborough lane. Eat on the move and get something in Lincoln.

13:16 Thu, 25 Jun 2015

Yeah lets do that

13:28 Thu, 25 Jun 2015

That sir is a plan!

14:06 Thu, 25 Jun 2015

Smudger, Jack and Rhod are on the ride list.
8:30 alright with you 3?

16:33 Thu, 25 Jun 2015

Richard, I doubt Smudger will be there. Does he even still ride a bike? :-) Looks like Jack is already in Lincolnshire judging by his ride today.

17:59 Fri, 26 Jun 2015

Where are you guys aiming to camp up?

17:59 Fri, 26 Jun 2015

Not sure, when I've been before I've watched it on the west side of Lincoln and then each lap followed the route in after the race until I got to Michaelgate. Might not be possible this year, I would think we will be at Michaelgate for some if it, probably be busy though!

20:13 Fri, 26 Jun 2015

Figured Smudger wouldn't be out and Jack might be there. Rhod is riding the sportive tomorrow with Paul.

20:14 Fri, 26 Jun 2015

Been a while since I have been on the site.
Not ridden properly since April thanks to a mixture of being poorly and 80+ hour working weeks. All change now though... Project almost finished and I have a free couple of hours on Sunday to ride but not the stamina to do Lincoln. Hopefully in a month or so I will be back to drafting the commuters!

9:56 Sat, 27 Jun 2015

Lincoln centre is looking great, the castle is full of stalls. A much bigger event than in previous years for obv reasons. Will probably be packed tomorrow, with cyclists and non-cyclists, so may be a good idea to lock up your bikes somewhere and pick a good spot. Sportive was great today too, loads of support on Michaelgate.

17:18 Sat, 27 Jun 2015

I might have to back out of tomorrow, being feeling a bit guilty leaving Beth on her own all the time while she's ill and need to start making progress on laying the new floor in the bedroom. Busy two out of the next three weekends so need to get on with it really :-(

18:41 Sat, 27 Jun 2015

Darren and I then. Messaged you on WhatsApp Darren.

19:18 Sat, 27 Jun 2015

Sorry, forgot I signed up for this. I've headed to my parents for the weekend. I was going to ride back with you guys but I'm now working at 8pm so need to get away ASAP and (hopefully) drill it down the a46!

Jack Beavis

23:09 Sat, 27 Jun 2015

Cheers Jack, thought so, might join you on that A46 ride home.
Just delaying our ride out a bit, leaving Attenborough lane lights 8:45, university boulevard for 9 now.
See anyone else out there.

8:17 Sun, 28 Jun 2015

Nice to see Richard B getting some TV time for the BCC jersey. Hopefully Chris can do the same later on.

12:08 Sun, 28 Jun 2015

What channel is this on?

13:04 Sun, 28 Jun 2015

13:36 Sun, 28 Jun 2015

cheers found a stream

15:09 Sun, 28 Jun 2015

Is it typically 'Manx' to moan?

16:21 Sun, 28 Jun 2015

I think we passed Jack Beavis bossing it down the A46 in a BCC jersey in the way home.

18:21 Sun, 28 Jun 2015

Saw Richard standing on the corner cheering on the women on TV, but not Chris in the men's race.

19:57 Sun, 28 Jun 2015

Catching up now - seems like I missed an awesome race. Also noticed that British Cycling managed to tweet a picture of Chris B, from shortly before cross-winds and crashes shredded the field:

20:59 Sun, 28 Jun 2015

Great day out today. Cheers Darren.
Good to see everyone else out, and kudos for Chris for getting in.
That needs to happen again, I really like he Lincoln GP, but it was amazing to see the best riders in the country going full gas for 8 laps.

21:26 Sun, 28 Jun 2015

Cheer Richard, a Grand day out!

21:40 Sun, 28 Jun 2015

What a fantastic finish to the race too, right down to the wire!

21:49 Sun, 28 Jun 2015

This is not verbatim:

Repoter to Cav: 'It must be nice to show the British public what you can do'

Cav: 'I don't need to show them what I can do, I've won 25 tour stages and the world champs'

Classic! Brilliant.

Btw, Cav was the racer of the day in my opinion.
