Skegness and Back

6:00 Sat, 12 Aug 2017

Meet at:

Distance: 273.59km

Duration: 13hr 0

Route: https://www.strava.com/routes/2511709

Leaving at 6am, not 6.02am so don't be late.

Cafe: stops at 45, 85 and 130, 'the best bakery your ever likely to come across' in Woodhall Spa, somewhere in Skegness and then the Tack Room at Fulbeck.

Pace: Tough to say over 165miles, something between 16-18 mph no doubt, maybe faster due to topography. We will ride as a group and not drop anyone.

What if I get tired: the train back from Skegness can take 2/3 bikes and the route goes near the stations at a few points.

Discussion

I'm interested, not sure of plans or legs yet, I'll tentatively put my name down...

If you can't find another date don't change it on my account George I'm sure there'll be more opportunities to do it some other time

Possibly interested, but I'm actually in Belgium that weekend.

Guys, rather than a there n back, I ride to parents a bit, 10 miles from Skeg, what about this route there then other route back?

https://www.strava.com/activities/330478813

From there I can take you back roads to Wainfleet then Skeg?

Will leave it up to everyone else, the idea is there and back and a different route there and back is definitely appealing, not sure adding 15-20 miles on is hugely sensible though. Will have a look at distances etc

Done a bit of both Phil, dont fancy adding 20 miles onto it for no reason so added 5 and used your 2nd part of the route

Hiya folks, fairly new to the club... I'm up for this, will there be a definitive route posted before the actual ride so I can let the Mrs know in case legs give up half way on the way back. Never gone that far past a century before!

The definitive route is posted Paul, its out on the northern loop and back on the southern, the southern loop is a bit closer to the train stations in case people want to take that option.

Looks like a lot of interest in this ride, shame I can't make it, saves me whittling about whether I could do it or not!

Bets on how many don't make the full distance? (Probably include me as a safe bet of bonkng at about 130 miles)

So, who finished it? It's not that hard. I've done it 9 times - 8 from Alfreton (189 miles) and once from Derby (203 miles).

I did it one year with you, unplanned, pissed it down in Sutton! Let's hope for good weather!

@Gearge - I just noticed that someone had already mentioned Woodhall Spa so I deleted the post. Bakery claim still stands - it's really great. There's loads of places to eat in Woodhall Spa but the bakery is both brilliant and quick and they also do coffee.

Hi there......I'm new to the club (just moved to the area) and I'd like to join you on the ride. Can you let me know where the actual start will be on Saturday please?

Thanks

Andrew

It's in Beeston square outside Argos/Specsavers if you look at the top right of the page there is a map with a pin in it, I am pretty sure you can zoom out on it which might help.

Weather's looking good all day tomorrow. Small chance of a little bit of rain at skegness around lunchtime. Westerly wind all day too so the leg out should be rapid!
