Sunday Social Steady - Short
9:00 Sun, 14 Jan 2018
Duration: 2hr 0
Sorry for the late posting of this ride. Last week was a bit of a blur! 😁
A fairly flat route designed to encourage everyone to get out their bike, dust them off and come and enjoy some easy social riding.
Approx. 26 miles with a cafe stop at the end at The Bean coffee shop.
**Leaving from Greenfingers (167 High Rd, Chilwell, Beeston, Nottingham NG9 5BA) at 9am
The route leaves Beeston, goes through Long Eaton, Shardlow, Aston on Trent, turns right at the end onto the road back to shardlow before turning left down the lane back to Elvaston Castle and heading back via Borrowash and Risley (along the chaingang route), back towards Breaston and then home through Long Eaton.
*Usual Social Ride guidelines:*
The aim of this Social Ride is for riders of all abilities to get together and ride in a sociable group.
The average pace will generally be 12-16 mph but don't let that put you off as the ethos of the social rides is that we will ride to the pace of the slowest rider and no one will be left behind.
Please take a look at the route and familiarise yourself with it just in case the group gets split for some reason. There is a GPX file attached for those with GPX computers/strava etc.
For large groups we need at least 3 people to take on sweeping-up duties to ensure no one gets left behind. This will be agreed on the day.
If a group on the day decide that the pace isn't fast enough for them, they need to let the ride leader know before they shoot off. This is not a problem at all, however they need to consider is this ride for them as the ride guides are clearly stated.
If the social ride does split up which can happen naturally due to hills etc, then the lead group will wait at the next junction for the rest re-group.
This social ride can attract riders from local clubs plus riders not affiliated to a club. Beeston CC requires it's members to ride responsibly at all times, with due regard to the rules of the road and with consideration to all other road users. Each individual rider is responsible for their own behaviour on the road. Beeston CC cannot accept any responsibility for the actions of individual riders. Riders under 16 years of age will need to be accompanied by a responsible adult.
