Hilly Night (Two Groups?)
19:00 Tue, 16 Apr 2019
Duration: 1hr 20
Hilly Night continues, Big lights needed from the start.
For the newcomers, (Mike's) Hilly Night is a fast-paced ride that takes in a series of seven local climbs. It's 28 miles with 1850ft of climbing. Traditionally it's ridden pretty much flat-out from the start, and everyone gets dropped eventually. Average speed at the front is usually 20mph+, but once the climbing starts everyone tends to find their own pace.
Meet at Bramcote Park. Route shown takes the southern branch on the way out (No Man's Lane), and the loop at the end is anticlockwise (Cloves then Drum).
Possibly two groups? Jim, Colin, Rob, plus others have all expressed an interest but at an 18-19 average and maybe a 6.30pm start time for this group. Please comment if of interest. It is more fun than the flat Tuesday night summer chaingang!

First group is going at 6.30
If you can’t keep up with the faster lot, see you there early.

I'll be there for 7. Can't see myself keeping up with the fast group at the moment, but it never hurts to try.

PS. There are temporary lights at the junction in Coxbench (between Cloves & Drum), it's a 4-way signal, if you catch them wrong you have to wait for ages. From the new road markings it looks like they're going to be a permanent feature.

Wow, popular this week! Quite fancy the earlier start for a bit more daylight if I can get back from work in time...

I would tag along but there's nobody fat enough going.

Clearly you haven't been out with us lately ;)

What is happening, is the 6:30pm re-grouping after climbs or just normal hilly night where everyone gets dropped eventually (Apart from Matt)?
15:21 Tue, 16 Apr 2019
Some of us will definitely be regrouping, possibly all, but I haven't spoken to everyone so can't be sure.

So roll out at 6:30 or 7? If earlier then change the ride time or people will get confused
17:22 Tue, 16 Apr 2019
Both. Faster group at 7 as normal.

I see. Ta

Great to see so many people out. :-)
If we're having two start times regularly can we maybe post it as two separate rides though, just so we know who is with which group? We weren't sure who was coming for the 7pm group, ended up hanging around for for a while at the start to make sure we hadn't missed anyone.
