'People riding there and back?

Yes, seem to recall last year we left at 7 and met Lee on the route. Worked out well.

Is this the route Lee?

http://bikeroutetoaster.com/Course.aspx?course=289124

8.00-8.05 at the corner of Station Road/Nottingham Lane?

richardb

I'd most probably be riding there & back.

Unknown U

20:55 Fri, 28 Dec 2012

@Richardb. Yes that is the official route, but we never seem to get round it! I am therefore going to tweak it a bit - taking out the Colston Bassett loop and instead we will go up the hill out of Stathern, across to Eaton and Branston and up the hill towards Croxton and then back to Eastwell and across the top and back down to Clawson. I shall post the modified route next week.

leeb21

I will be driving out there.
Lee what will the approx mileage be of the modified route?

macca

Sounds good. I'll ride there and back with you Herve.

Let's form a train, shall we? Anyone wants to suggest a start time? 07:00 rolling out of Beeston? Does that work? What is the roll call?

Unknown U

17:16 Sat, 29 Dec 2012

I'm riding from Beeston.

davey101

I'm not sure what route you want to take Herve, I mapped a route down and back with the ride. It's around the 85 mile mark in total, and about 21 miles to get to the start. maybe need to leave Beeston at 6:45 unless we plan to blast it there at 20 mph.

We need to check with Richard who met Lee en route last year.

Unknown U

23:28 Tue, 1 Jan 2013

I made a mistake with the distance, it's 21 miles from Long Eaton to the start. It'll be around 16ish from Beeston.
Are you thinking of an intercept or something then Herve? We have a start location and a time of 8am to get there by.

orkneynick

23:36 Tue, 1 Jan 2013

I'll go with the flow but since Richard did it last week (with an intercept) I was going to tag along if he does the same this year; if not happy to leave earlier and follow your route Nick. I'm easy.

Unknown U

I just really knocked that up to get an idea of the ride distance. Whichever way anyone wants to go is fine with me.

orkneynick

Ask the expert.

Lee

Can you let us know your usual commute route and average journey time please?

richardb

7:50 Wed, 2 Jan 2013

University, Wilford, Ruddington, Bradmore, Keyworth, Widmerpool, Willoughby to meet at junction of Station Road/Nottingham Road (just above Old Dalby) is about 15 miles. If you go via Bradmore, Wysall, Willoughby it's a bit shorter, but there is Windmill Hill.

The longer Pudding Ride is rolling, but with a couple of decent climbs out of Stathern and Branston. Will post route later.

Thanks Lee, for those riding out I think a 7am sharp departure from Argos should do it, but am happy to leave a little earlier to allow a more leisurely ride out.

richardb

17:42 Wed, 2 Jan 2013

Okay. I'll be at 07:00 at Argos Richard.

Unknown U

17:48 Wed, 2 Jan 2013

Revised route here

A bit shorter than usual, but it'll still take a good 2 hours or so.

Would like to join you on this , will you be setting off at racing snake speed? Or will it be moderate enough for ladies of a certain age?!!!

sally

21:48 Wed, 2 Jan 2013

Are you wanting to ride there and back Sally? It will be a steady ride out. We could set off a little earlier if people want?

As a relatively new member, I was wondering what the significance of the name 'pudding ride' was so I googled it and found this:

http://app.bunch.cc/clubs/beestoncc/posts/508a538ebcd4ca0002000006

There's food involved! Thanks dude, sounds great!

It's not supposed to rain so I was toying with the idea of bringing the good bike. The description has made me think again though.

I'm hoping to be well enough to join you for this. No promises though. Knackered myself changing the chain on my winter bike today. Weak!

OMG, Richard, if you set off any earlier, it will be today! Do you mean I should set off before 7 am, and you all catch me up! Too late to change the start time I think It would be nice to be collected after the eating bit, but being without the use of a helicopter, I will be cycling there and back. Probably slower on the way back......

Great stuff Lee, Ali and freinds.

A nice ride around the Vale, some nice climbs, fast rolling sections and only the odd lost rider. A great selection of food and drink. Thanks again.

oooft!
Cheers Lee and the chef's at Buttery Hall. Great morning out, I think the 2nd hardest ride I've done, not that long but my legs were in poor shape before I started so it felt like cycling through treacle all day. I think Wetherspoons are going to cook my lunch.

13:19 Sat, 5 Jan 2013

From the Beeston Road Club representative a big thank you for the ride and especially the catering at Lee's - excellent food from Alison and helpers. Thank you.
I look forward to more inter-club mingling. Although I should probably join you now!
