Women's Tour 2017

Women's Tour route was announced this morning, and it's coming our way again - Stage 4 on Sat 10th June starts and ends in Chesterfield, and the route passes Matlock, Wirksworth, Carsington and Belper. Not sure yet exactly where the route goes, but hopefully we'll be able to arrange a club ride out to watch the race pass. (With a little planning we'll probably be able to catch them twice.)

Unfortunately we'll only see them early in the stage unless we head all the way up to Chesterfield, so it's unlikely to be quite as good as last year (when the race-winning move happened right in front of us on Bank Road in Matlock). Should still be a fun day out though.

I've stuck a ride up already which can of course be modified. I think we might be able to catch them 3 times looking at the shape of the route. Just East of Tansley - Higham - Clay Cross. It's the thought of riding in the sunshine with legs and arms out that sounds fantastic.

Chesterfield isn't that far if we're making a full day of it and want to see the finish.

OK who's riding out next weekend?
Ride is on page 2 of the rides section.
Expressions of interest?
I have a TT at 5pm, so will either ride steady, flat and direct to Whatstandwell or possibly even take the train, but will see you on the climb to Alderwasley and again at Crich.

I'm probably in, but won't be able to confirm until midweek. Happy to suggest a route if needed too.

I reckon your idea of short sportive route out is a good one, everyone knows where they are going and can go at their own pace, unless people want to explore some new lanes?

Either works for me. If people fancy something different there is still one road up to Alport I haven't climbed... ;-)

Thanks all - great morning out, despite the weather. Special thanks to the kind gentlemen in Alderwasley who opened up the church so we could hide from the rain. They even made coffee. 👍🏻

Highlights are on ITV4 at 11pm. Don't think we'll be able to spot the BCC jerseys under all the rain gear though...
