Harvey Hadden - a great success
As the racing league has ended at Harvey Hadden we would like to thank a few people who have helped get the league up and running at this newly built venue which is the closet circuit to us and our neighbouring cycling clubs.
Our involvement started 2 and half years ago with me and Richard Oakes attending meetings at the City Council with British Cycling outlining their plans and the need for support from clubs to set up a league.
A committee was needed and up stepped Neil Buddo, Chris Bates and Richard Oakes. Without their commitment there would have been no racing at Harvey Hadden and we and I am sure all the other clubs and racers from further afield who raced, would like to thank them for making this happen and securing another venue in the racing calendar.
Neil's constant drive, dedication and being there throughout the season to spear head and organise the races gets a particular mention for gratitude. Putting on events takes a lot of behind the scenes hours and the measure of the hard work is seeing the riders rock up and race with everything going smoothly.
Of course to support the league cubs had to commit to help putting the races on and each club supported two races. Thank you to all the members who came down to marshal and helped make the races happen on the evenings.
I am sure that we will hear next years plans for racing soon enough but it cannot be stressed how important it was to get the HH league up and running considering it is very close to us.
It is great to be be able to cycle the short distance to the venue see and support racing without having to drive to venues such as Mallory or Darley Moor.
Thank you to the HH committee and members for helping get the league up and running.
The only pic I have of Neil at Harvey Hadden with Sally and Richard and Erica the medic on one of our supporting evenings.
