Club Policies

Code of Conduct

All members of Beeston Cycling Club and any person delivering a service on behalf of Beeston Cycling Club are expected to abide by the following code of conduct:

Do not bring the Club into disrepute;
Respect the rights, dignity and worth of all regardless of age, gender, disability, race, ethnic origin, creed, colour, social status, religion, sexual orientation or any other condition;
Respect and promote rights, dignity and worth of all and interact with others in a manner that enables all to maintain their dignity. This is accomplished by a policy of confidentiality (a right to privacy) and informed fair and reasonable treatment. (right to procedural fairness);
Use the official club web pages, including but not restricted to twitter, facebook and the blog/forum, responsibly and ensure that posted information is appropriate for all to view. Information added by members should not be offensive to or discriminatory against any person or group irrespective of their age, gender, disability, race, ethnic origin, creed, colour, social status, religion, sexual orientation or any other condition.

Complaints Procedure

In the event that any member of the club feels that he or she has suffered discrimination in any way or that the Club’s Policies or Code of Conduct have been broken, they should follow the procedures here.

They should report the matter to the Club Chairman or another member of the Club Committee. The report should include: Details of what, when and where the occurrence took place; any witness statement and names; names of any others who have been treated in a similar way; a preference for a solution to the incident.
The Club’s Officers will sit for any hearings that are required.
The Club’s Officers will have the power to: warn as to future conduct; suspend from membership; remove from membership any person found to have broken the Club’s Policies or Code of Conduct; refuse membership to any person found to have broken the Club’s Policies or Code of Conduct.

Safeguarding children, young people and adults at risk.

Cycling should be a safe and positive experience for everybody. All those involved in the sport have a part to play in safeguarding children, young people and adults at risk. To assist with this, British Cycling will offer support and guidance, reflective of good practice, to all our members.

Community Interest Company (CIC)

As of the 22nd February 2024, Beeston Cycling Club is a registered Community Interest Company (CIC), with Company Number 15513265.

A CIC is a special type of limited company which exists to benefit the community rather than private shareholders. We are non-profit, limited by guarantee (i.e. with guarantors rather than shareholders) and invest any profit back into the company.

Company stakeholders are club members and prospective club members, consisting generally of local residents of Beeston. The club is run by committee members, who are club members and local residents, and are decided by a vote amongst the membership every year. The company directors are a currently a subset of the committee and are unpaid.

There is an annual general meeting where members can attend, bring forward topics and motions for discussion and cast votes. Throughout the year members and non-members can get in contact through the club secretary and/or the discussion forums on the website, where the committee will subsequently act on this feedback.

The Club's activities will provide benefit to the local community through promoting cycling and cycling events in the area. The activities include:

Providing a website to coordinate and advertise cycling rides, events and information
Running dedicated cycling events and competitions
Running a 'Youth Academy' for young riders in the local area to develop their skills and provide a pathway into potential future cycling racing careers.
