Merry Christmas from Beeston Cycling Club

Thanks for being part of a great 2023 with Beeston Cycling Club!

Here’s some stats for you, at the end of a great year of cycling.

This year our group rides have cycled a total of 54545km, over 9532km of road and gravel, that’s the equivalent of cycling around the entire circumference of the Earth 1.35 times. That’s a lot of cycling!

Our most popular ride series has been The Sunday Social with 274 attendees. Thanks to Kostas and Terry for continuing to host these rides.

The member who has hosted the most rides this year is Jonathan Kingston, with a whopping 48 rides, that’s nearly 1 a week, all year.

Jonathan has also set the bar for the most group rides attended with 78 rides, and unsurprisingly, covering the greatest distance too at 5548km, nice work!

The highest attendance on one of the club runs this year was The Sunday social, on Sunday the 30th April hosted by Terry Daley. Thanks Terry!

This year has also seen the birth of new weekly group rides, with Totally Tapped Tuesday, BCC Thursdays and gravel rides growing in popularity. It’s been great to see new rides grow, and serves as a good reminder that we are all free to start our own rides, and by sharing them with the Beeston Cycling Club community they can grow into large group rides and gather in numbers. So if you feel there is a particular ride you’d like to do with the club, and it’s not already in the offering, we encourage you to share it on the rides page of the website.

Behind the scenes we’ve also been hard at work this year trying to improve the admin side of the club for both the exec and our members, and we hope the changes we’ve made to your account management have made your life easier. We will continue making improvements next year to help make things run more smoothly.

Finally, the club would just like to give a shout out to Jonathan Kingston, who has been instrumental in growing the social side of Beeston Cycling Club this year, helping to organise loads of group rides, and breathe fresh life into the club’s social scene, along with lots of stuff in the background. Thanks Jonathan.

Thank you to all our members for being a part of the club this year. Remember, it’s our members who shape this club, and without you, there is no Beeston Cycling Club. We are looking forward to seeing you out on the roads in 2024.
