Welcome to Beeston Cycling Club

It was a proud night for Beeston CC last night, which saw the launch event of the HUUB-BCC Race Team at The Quad Cinema in Derby, it was great to go along and hear about all the work our chairman John McCay and the team have been putting in to create a new pathway into elite racing, with our very own Beeston CC Academy at its foundation.

On its inception, the Beeston CC Academy flipped the generic race team setup on its head, and created a pathway from the ground up. The team has a proven pathway model, and has quickly become an East Midlands centre of excellence, with the Beeston CC Academy nurturing and developing riders from the age of 14. The system has already proved successful, with riders joining the programme at school age and winning some of the biggest races in the UK at under-19 level with the BCC Race Team.

Now, united by a shared ambition, BCC Race Team have teamed up with HUUB and Webuycycle to create a new elite senior cycling team. HUUB-BCC Race Team is one of few to be granted Elite Development Status by British Cycling, recognising the team's commitment to supporting young riders on their journey through the sport.

It was wonderful to hear from Bryan Steel, outlining how the Beeston Academy and HUUB-BCC Race Team are not simply training people how to ride a bike fast, but are developing characters and supporting the families around their riders, to develop well rounded individuals who can then strive to reach their goals.

Following BCC Race Teams' great success at junior level last year this team now gives those riders a natural progression into the senior ranks, whilst being further mentored by a select group of highly experienced senior riders.

The night was topped off with a great documentary about Leigh Timmis, and his world record attempt to cycle the longest distance in 7 days with support from HUUB. A truly inspiring piece, that highlights the importance of surrounding yourself with a great team.

Thanks to John McCay, John Pearson, Bryan Steel & Simon Hopkins as the management team for all the passion and hard work that has helped to create a new East Midlands road racing pathway, and we look forward to seeing the HUUB-BCC Race Team sporting our colours at the Tour of Britain over the coming years.
